Wondering what it takes to have a career working from your own home office?

I see so many people asking what it takes to work from home. I think gas prices and daycare has made the general population take a hard look at other options rather then going to the office on a day-to-day basis. When I first thought of working from home I didn’t realize there are thousands of people who have already chosen this type of career and are able to be in the comfort of their home and make a very good income.

Here is a list of some basic questions you might want to think on when considering making a change:

#1: What would it save me to work from my own home office as opposed to going to the office everyday?

#2: What are the advantages and disadvantages of freelancing?

#3: What types of work can I do from home?

#4: How do I set up my own home office? What kind of equipment is needed?

#5: How do I balance my family while working at home?

#6: What if I have a pet in the home?

#7: What kind of computer should I use? What type of software is required?

#8: Do I have to have high-speed internet or will dial up be fine?

#9: What happens if I have an emergency and cannot work from my own office? Do I have a back up plan?

#10: What hours will I be required to work? Is it set hours or can I set my own hours?

#11: What type of communication do they desire? Phone, Email or in person? Can I meet this type of communication?

#12: How will I be paid and when?

#13: Is it an hourly position or commission?

These basic questions and more may need to be answered when you are considering a change of career.
